My Secret Circle for Tweens + {{GIVEAWAY}}

If you heard the phrase "secure social networking for girls", would your curiosity be peaked? Mine was. I personally LOVE Facebook. Twitter is kind of cool too. Myspace was very appealing to me when it first came out even though it's lost it's flavor quite a bit (for me). But, I'm an adult. I'm not sure I'd want my tween girls on there though.

Did you know that 25% of 8-15 year olds have strangers as friends on their social networking page and 20% of those admit to meeting a stranger they encountered online?! Just this week alone I received 2 random friend requests on Facebook. Umm, no thanks! Way too many crazies out there.

To address the huge online safety concern facing our youth, gaming and entertainment leader,
Senario, has created the first-ever secure socially networking world specifically for girls ages 8-12. My Secret Circle is a new plug-‘n-play product that allows girlfriends to hang out online, chat, share pictures and play games—all with mom’s approval.

By purchasing online access keys (USB keys) featuring proprietary technology with embedded browsers and unique ID codes, only friends can connect on My Secret Circle by exchanging private codes. Best of all, it’s invisible to the online world, so the child is not exposed to ads and strangers that are present on most major social networking sites.

Basically how it works is you buy the program, which comes in the form of a flash drive, and each person has their own secret "code" for the My Secret Circle. After generating your code, you print the code out on a small piece of paper and place it in a tiny capsule called a "charm". Then, you exchange the charm with another My Secret Circle user in person. And that's where it differs from "big kid" social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook. In order to share your MSC profile with another MSC user, you have to exchange charms in person, which is supposed to eliminate the predatory aspect that sometimes comes with social networking sites.

It has all the fun features of other social networking sites like sharing pics, notes, interests, etc. You can even buy a headset that allows you to talk to your friends, voice-over-internet-style, just like Skype!

Other key features of My Secret Circle include All-About-Me profile pages with a Diva Designer avatar tool, an online journal that can be kept private or public for friends to read, instant messaging, games and an extensive photo feature in which girls can upload photos, add text and décor and even create slideshows.

My Secret Circle access keys can be purchased individually($19,.99) or in a B.F.F. (best friend forever) Pack ($29.99), which includes two online access keys, to shared among friends or siblings. What a perfect birthday gift idea!

One lucky reader is going to receive an idividual My Secret Circle Pack. To ENTER please follow these simple instructions:

Poo-Pourri Jr. Review + GIVEAWAY

As parents we love our little ones and we love they way they smell..............well, most of the time. We love the smell of their baby powder, their baby lotion and their laundry detergent but we don't love their stinky diapers. Oh, no sir! Many times I'd look at my girls and think how could this horrific stink come from this adorable little girl?

I have to admit when my first daughter, Emilee, was born I changed her every time at her changing table and used the Diaper Genie religiously. But when Grace came along and I found myself plopping her down wherever I could to change those less than fragrant diapers and running outside to toss her poopie diaper into the trash. Not very convenient when it's cold or raining or the middle of the night.

I recently had the opportunity to try out this ingenious little item called Poo-Pourri Jr, the dirty diaper deodorizer. Here's a little bit about the product: Poo-Pourri Jr. is a diaper spray made of all-natural anti-bacterial essential oils such as bergamot, lemongrass and grapefruit.

Poo-Pourri Jr., from the makers of the popular Poo-Pourri adult spray, eliminates the source of odor causing bacteria and uses a secret formula that safely and effectively traps and diffuses odors in cloth and plastic diapers, leaving your home fresh and clean.

Simply spray Poo-Pourri Jr. on dirty diapers before disposal and there will be no reminder that your little angel was once a stinker. This convenient spray is also perfect to take with you on the go in your diaper bag – the formula contains a revolutionary odor counteractant to neutralize odors at the source and refresh air. The all-natural essential oils in Poo-Pourri Jr. trap odors and won’t leave any behind.

Poo-Pourri Jr. is available in a 4 oz. bottle for $12.96 and an 8 oz. bottle for $19.95. It is available for purchase at
www.poopourri.com as well as through retailers nationwide.

This product really does work. I've used is several times and the only thing you smell is the spray. I even went back later on in the day, gave my garbage a sniff and no sign AT ALL that there was a stinky diaper in the pail.

2 lucky readers have the opportunity to win this product. To enter please follow these instructions:

  • US & Canadian Residents Only

  • Visit www.poopourri.com and tell me which product you like the best

  • Earn extra entries by following, blogging about this giveaway, subscribing or following us on Twitter.

  • Contest ends June 30 and winner will be chosen via random.org and posted on July 1.

  • Please be sure to leave a valid email email address so we can contact you if you win.

Featured Product: Meaningful Beauty + {GIVEAWAY}

I'm a Mary Kay girl through and through. I love their products but they're kind of pricey. I haven't used them in quite some time and my face could definitely tell the difference. My skin has been kind of red and blotchy on my face. It just wasn't looking as good as it had looked in the past. I resorted to a regular facial scrub but still, not the greatest results.

I was given the opportunity to review Cindy Crawford's new line of Anti-Aging skin care called Meaningful Beauty. I received their 30 day supply. Within the first few days I did notice a difference in my skin. It definitely looked much better and it felt better. I'm so bad when it comes to routine so I've only used the Night Masque once (recommended use of 2x/week) but the following morning, my skin looked great. The other day I even noticed that the redness in my skin had really improved a lot.

It may seem like a long list of items to use for a daily routine and we mothers are busy as it is and may not have time to do it all but it's really very quick. And worth it. I completely notice a difference in how my make-up goes on when I use the Day Moisturizer (which contains SPF 20) and the Glowing Serum. Those are my 2 daily musts.

A 30 day supply runs $29.95 plus shipping. To some that my seem like a lot but there are many other designer brands that you can purchase but you'll be spending the same money on just a cleanser or a moisturizer.

A little bit about the products: By beautiful mother/entrepreneur/super model, Cindy Crawford, the Meaningful Beauty® skin care line is an age maintenance regimen that combines a powerful antioxidant with luxurious anti-aging ingredients in beautiful packaging. The line includes a day moisturizer, a night treatment, a gentle cleanser, a great-smelling, pore-refining toner, a deep cleaning facial masque, a depuffing, brightening eye treatment, a neck and décolleté treatment (an often ignored area that gives us away!) and a glowing serum (a model's secret!). Meaningful Beauty® is great for every day and, beautifully packaged, making it gift worthy as well.

One lucky winner is going to receive the Meaningful Beauty Anti-Aging Skincare Sytem (30 Day Supply). Woot woot!!! To enter, please follow these simple instructions:

  • US & Canada Residents Only
  • For extra entries follow, blog about this giveaway or subscribe to this blog or this blog
  • Must have valid email address to enter as winner will be chosen by random.org and notified via email.
  • Giveaway ends Tuesday June 15 and winner will be notified on June 16.

{ Balance B Kids Bar }

As the mom of 2 girls and being that I have had issues with my weight since I was a child, I'm always looking for healthy snacks that my kids can enjoy too. Now, I'm not saying that my house does not have some delicious goodies in it but when given the choice, my kids have been opting for fruit over sugary snacks. They're so used to me counting my points (Weight Watchers) and eating healthy that they now say "we want to eat healthy too". Ahhh, music to a mothers ears.

A good healthy snack does not necessarily need to be a fruit or a vegetable. It can come in many forms. And for those of you moms out there whose kids can't be bothered with fruits and veggies, don't you worry your pretty little head. The makers of BALANCE BAR introduce the BALANCE B KIDS bar, a nutritious kids’ snack bar to help fuel their active lives. With a yummy combination of whole grain oats, wheat and rice, the bars contain vitamins like Iron, Zinc and B1, B6, and B12 to help feed their growing brains and bodies. And, in flavors like Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter, B KIDS bars are a great treat to stick in their lunchbox or put in their backpack and take on the go!

Here's a pic of my daughter Gracie enjoying the Peanut Butter B Kids Bar.

Beginning in June, B KIDS bars will be available exclusively at Target® stores nationwide. The suggested retail price per six-count box is $3.99.

The PERFECT Jeans

Being the professional dieter that I am, er uh was, my weight has yo yo'd for the last 15 years and along with that comes clothes. Lots and lots of clothes. I have skinny clothes, fat clothes and beyond. I could probably open up a little Thrift Store with all of the clothes I've accumulated over years. Since losing weight this time around (and by faith for the very LAST time) I have been ditching clothes left and right. No more of this "oh, maybe I'll save them 'just in case'." Oh, no. "Just in case" has been put to rest; put out to pasture; sent to the bottom of the sea with an anchor tied to it. You get what I mean. :)

I am happy to report that I am little by little getting into my skinny clothes. Yay!! Thankfully most of them are classic styles and I've gotten away with having to do very little shopping. One little predicament that I've run into though is that my body has changed. After 2 children, things just are not in the same place anymore. While I'm thankful for fitting into my old clothes, they just don't fit like they used to. Well, that's where Jag Jeans come into the picture.

I received a pair of Jag Jeans to review and let me just tell you, I rarely find jeans that just fit right without trying them on. These did. I put them on, and poof, they fit perfect. And, so comfortable too. The waist is nice and comfy - not at all confining. They have quickly become my favorite pair of jeans. The bad news is(or the good news depending on how you look at it) I'm not done losing weight so eventually these jeans won't fit anymore. The good news, I'd love to make these the new "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" pants so when I'm done, they are up for grabs! They are size 14, boot cut. Who wants? I'm dead serious. :)

Here's a little bit about the company:

JAG caters to women of all ages and shapes and retail for under $100.
For more than 30 years, Jag's sexy and easy to wear denim has walked the walk and gone the distance. In the 1970's, JAG introduced contemporary sportswear designs and re-invented denim, which became an integral part of the brand. Today, JAG Jeans are about great fit, and just the right amount of fashion. With over three decades of experience, JAG designers are experts in fit and fabic. They consider every woman, every size, every shape so that when a woman buys a pair of Jag Jeans, we know they will fit, flatter, and make her feel good. Our fabrics have just the right amount of stretch to perfect the fit, and add the comfort. Even the waistband has some stretch, making Jag Jeans unique.

So, go over to Nordstrom and check them out. Making a purchase will be an investment. I promise you that. :)

Warm Whiskers

Living in the Northeast, I've about had it with the snow and the cold weather. And with the economy in the condition that it's in, we are trying to cut back on a little bit of everything. And that means keeping our thermostat a little lower than usual. I love that warm, toasty feeling. If we had a fireplace, I'd plop myself infront of it and spend my day there. But, we don't so I am all about finding something to help keep me warm.

Over the Christmas holiday I had won a beautiful, knit blanket during the White Elephant game at our church Christmas party. I had my eye on it and thanks to my friend, Kristin, I took it home. Well, that covers my body but what about my poor, cold feet? Don't they need some warmth too?

The answer is, of course, yes. Well, that is where Warm Whiskers come in.

About the Company
Warm Whiskers is a company dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals by providing a product line that promotes relaxation, stress and tension relief, and comfort for the body and soul. We not only pride ourselves on the quality and functionality of our products, but also on providing exceptional customer service.

Established in 2000, Warm Whiskers is the industry leader of animal-shaped herbal heating pads that may also be frozen. Warm Whiskers are all designed with extraordinary attention to detail and are made with premium grains, herbs, and fabric. Warm Whiskers includes items to comfort children and pets as well.

I had the opportunity to review these adorable Heatable Slippers. After popping them in the microwave for the suggested period of time, my feet were being pampered while I just sat there and enjoyed the warmth. I sat in the kitchen and dawdled on the computer as usual but could barely get anything done. I was distracted by how good my feet felt. And how warm and toasty they were. :)

About the Slippers

Warm Whiskers' Heatable Slippers are the ultimate relaxation inducers and tension tamers, making them the perfect pampering items for all ages. These heatable and freezable slippers contain a removable insert that is filled with a blend of flaxseed and lavender. The entire slipper may be placed in the microwave (sole facing up to keep your microwave clean) and heated for approximately 30 to 45 seconds to provide your feet with 30 minutes of exhilarating comfort. Additionally, these cute slippers can be chilled in a freezer for an hour to reduce the swelling of tired, overworked feet. Hot or cold, they make a comforting gift beyond compare. Our Velcro closure ensures that the insert stays put when in use and allows for the easy removal of the insert to facilitate cleaning and comfort.

Warm Whiskers are not just slippers. Their product line consists of neck wraps, slippers, body wraps, eye pillows, pocket critters, body pillows and pampered pets.

Prices range from $12-$42. Available at http://www.warmwhiskers.com/.

Featured Company: Story Time Felts

In this day and age everything seems to be getting more difficult and complex. Things that used to be simple are not. I remember as a kid, we didn't have video games (well maybe Atari but we didn't own one) or computers. We rarely watched TV unless it was for Saturday morning cartoons. Instead we used our imaginations and played outside. A lot.

Just as I was beginning to think that those days were long since gone, I was introduced to a fabulous company that brings fun and excitement and learning to children without parking them in front of a TV or computer. Story Time Felts. A little about the company: Story Time Felts offers the very finest in felt board stories and visual aids for learning. Strict attention is paid to the quality as well as the educational value of each product. We carry an extensive line of educational felt board story sets and non-denominational religious felts as well as dress-up dolls, felt activity books, finger plays, puppets, and audio story and song CDs for preschool through school aged children. Children are natural storytellers but often their stories remain locked in their heads because they lack the ability to express themselves. Story Time Felts help parents and teachers bring back creativity and imagination to the children in their lives through beautiful felt products such as felt board story figures, activity books, dress up dolls and other educational felt items!Experts agree that kids these days are too "plugged in," so we offer something that is High Touch, not High Tech! Imagination is rediscovered and fostered with Story Time Felts!

We received this Story Time Felt Book and let me tell you, I was so impressed. It came with so many cut out pieces that a child's imagination could run wild.

I don't know about you but with gas prices going up and the world in the condition that it's in, I long for the simpler times. And playing with this wonderful book brings me back to childhood.
How can you get your hands on one of these? Well, they are only available by independent consultants. Visit www.funfelt.com to purchase from Karen Clark, the fabulous consultant who sent me this great product. Or give her a call at 1-877-643-5521 or 1-707-588-9290. You are and your child will NOT be disappointed. If you have any questions, please click HERE.

Let there be light!

Well Earth day was a month or so ago and technically this should have been posted then but if you're a mom, you know full well what it's like to get distracted and side tracked. Oy! But just because "earth day" is over, it doesn't mean that we can't be a little greener every other day of the year.

When you hear the word Sylvania, what do you think? The first thing that comes to mind is TV. Most of us know it probably as a brand of electronics and appliances, which it is, but did you know that they also sell light bulbs? Recently I received a sample of their Micro-Mini Twists.

I used mine right over my stove. They fit perfectly and the give off great lighting. Most of the time I would usually only have one bulb in at a time because one would burn out and then I'd forget to pick up more. But now I have 2 great Sylvania Micro-Mini Twists which should last for roughly 12,000 hours. Isn't that awesome? I'm using 13 watts but it looks like I'm using 60.

Muslin Wrap Giveaway

One thing I love about children is how they tend to have that one favorite item that stays with them from birth on into adulthood. For an old friend of mine, that item is her baby blanket. Today she is 27 and married and she STILL has this blanket that she takes wherever she goes. I have to admit, durng our single days we all used to laugh at it and poke fun because "baby" as she called it, was was wripped and tattered but she didn't care. It was her "blankie" and that was that.

Come to think of it, there is just something about children and blankies. Gracie is a blankie baby. She needs her blankies to go to sleep. If she see a blankie around the house, she'll lay right on it. Emilee, not so much. However, we received a Baby Gilliyan Boutique Muslin Wrap and Emilee was so excited about it. She just loves it. Just the other day she was using it to cover us while we were lounging around on our big comfy chair. I have to admit, I like it too. :) The Baby Gilliyan Boutique Muslin Wrap is so light and airy that it's the perfect cover for a summertime nap. The white muslin fabric is extremely breatheable making it the perfect blankie to swaddle your baby with. The top edge of the wrap has a pastel polka dotted trim that dresses it up just right. You won't have to worry about your precious little one overheating because it provides the perfect amount of warmth due to the light nature of the fabric.

While the Muslin Wrap is Baby Gilliyan Boutique's most popular product, that is not the only fabulous item they sell. Their product line consists of onesies, reversible blankets and bibs to name a few. Thanks to Amy, owner of Baby Gilliyan Boutique, one of Modern Mama's lucky readers will receive a Muslin Wrap. This giveaway will run from Monday, March 24 through Friday, March 28. A winner will be chosen at random and will be posted here on Saturday March 29.

The Ultimate Swaddler Blanket GIVEAWAY

It's here! March Madness is here! Let the Giveaways begin!

This week's giveway is a Stowers Swaddler blanket. With the birth of a new baby comes so many adorable must-haves. Every year it seems that the "must-haves" from the years before have come and gone. What was "in" and "trendy" last year is out this year. One thing has not changed though and that is that we still want to swaddle our babies when we bring them home to remind them of the comfort and sercurity they felt while in mommy's belly. Oh how I struggled to swaddle my girls and keep them all tucked it. Just when I thought I had it down, a little hand pops out.

Stowers Swaddler is a mom (and maternity nurse) invention. The blanket is 40 inches wide and designed to use the hospital method of swaddling infants. It's easy to learn and maintains a snug swaddle (helping baby remain on back), thus reducing SIDS risks. A pocket on the bottom for those tiny little feet and velcro on the back make this not just your ordinary receiving blanket. And as if this find was not fabulous enough they offer the blankets in various patterns and prints. Click HERE to read what some very satisfied customers had to say.

You didn't think I would dangle this wonderful product in front of you without offering it as a giveaway did you? One lucky reader will win a Stowers Swaddler Blanket. All you need to do to enter this giveaway is visit Stowers Swaddlers and then come back here and leave a comment telling me what other fabulous products of theirs that you really liked. You do not need to have a blog to enter but please make sure you leave some form of contact information for me so that I can contact you if you win. This giveaway will be open from Monday March 3 - Friday March 7. The winner will be announced on Saturday, March 8.

Bella Grace Boutique Pillowcase Dresses

Although boys run rampant in mine and my husband's family, we were blessed with 2 girls. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I absolutely love all of the stylish clothing they have out there for girls. I love finding unique outfits for Emilee and Grace while shopping for them. While my own wardrobe needs a serious makover, I make sure my girls are stylin'. During the summer months I love dressing them in dresses for no special reason. Even if we are just hanging around the house, I love the look of my little girls all dressed up with nowhere to go.

Speaking of unique little girl clothes, Bella Grace Boutique offers the most darling little girl Pillowcase Dresses I've ever seen. They come in vintage, classic and modern designs that will give your child the originality that only a handmade, one-of-a-kind product can give.

Each dress is made with a ribbon tie at the shoulders making it easy to get on and off. The stitching is of proffessional quality and you can certainly tell that a tremendous amount of time and dedication has gone into each charming little dress.

Bella Grace Boutique's Pillowcase Dresses also make a fabulous shirt when your child has outgrown it as a dress. I love how versitile the dresses are. If you take a look at their gallery you will see exactly what I'm talking about. I'm sold.

Authentic. Original. Charming. Bella Grace.

Funny Girl Designs

As the mother of 2 girls, I'm always looking for cute, girly clips for my daughters' hair. My oldest, Emilee, has had crazy, unruly hair almost since birth I sure had my hands full trying to get her little mop top under control. Normally it was just a ponytail at the top of her head and we were fine. Since I had been containing her hair since birth, we rarely had the problem of her yanking her ponytail out and looking like this:

Talk about a bad hair day!

Then, along came Gracie who was also born with some hair, but not nearly as much as Emilee. I tried and tried to get her little bit of hair into a bow or pony tail but to no avail. Here is a picture of how desperate I was to have a little baby "do".

Better leave well enough alone. So, I gave up for while. Then Gracie turned one and it was like all of the sudden this little girl had some hair. I was soooooooooooo excited. But the second I got a pony tail in, the little hands would go up and pull it out. I felt hopeless. :(

Until...... I found Funny Girl Designs. Funny Girl Designs is a boutique that carries fun and unique handmade hair accessories. Some of their original designs include baby clips, alligator no-slip hair clips, headbands, soft and stretchy headbands, baby hair bows, barrettes and so much more. The clips featured here are the very first clips that I've been able to put in Gracie's hair and she has not even attempted to touch or pull out. It's almost as if she doesn't even know it's there. How perfect! There are so many things that make Funny Girl Designs fabulous, one of them being that they use lead free rhinestones on their products as seen on the beautiful lavendar headband below. That is sure to put your heart at ease.
Another fabulous feature is that they will custom make accessories to coordinate with an outfit you may already have. Talk about customer service!

Funny Girl Designs has a vast variety of colors, designs and patterns that are sure to make you feel overwhelmingly satisfied after you have spent some time shopping at their boutique.
